We encourage members to develop a plan suited to their family and individual circumstances. Whether walking in a park, at a track, around home or neighborhood, or on a treadmill, keep track of the miles and record them on the post cards provided.
We suggest making a record of your miles walked and reporting them weekly. This will help us stay committed to this special activity. Once completed, the postcards may be mailed or brought to church and given to a member of your organization presidency (Relief Society, Young Women, Elders Quorum, etc.) There is also a blog (http://walkwithchristva.blogspot.com) and an e-mail address (walkwithchristva@gmail.com) for recording miles on line.
This program will officially start on March 23, 2008 (Easter Sunday)
This is not just a physical fitness program. “Walk with Christ” is planned as a spiritual experience for the whole ward that will bring us closer to our Savior. When preparing to walk, we also need to prepare to think and talk of Christ. Scriptures and stories of Jesus are two ways to help center our walks on Christ. Children should be encouraged to share their favorite stories and scriptures. Beginning with a prayer will invite the spirit to be present in our walks.
Some of us may have friends who would enjoy sharing this experience. If they want to participate, they may use the postcards, e-mail or blog to report their miles.
We plan at least two ward activities. First will be a “Ward Walk” at Bluefield City Park at 10:00 AM April 26, 2008 to be followed by a cookout. We also plan a second ward walk during our annual Pioneer Day celebration on July 26, 2008.
We hope that each of you will feel the spirit of this special program. Please let your organization leader know about your ideas and experiences.

From Brother Hymen...
As I focus each day to walk with Christ and try to get more miles walking to my sales calls by parking my car further from the office I am calling on. I find I am less frustrated about having to walk longer distances to get to the office I am calling on. I intentionally park at the far end of the parking area or at the end of the street so that I can walk further.
I find it easier to find a parking spot and feel less stressed at the end of the day. I still have days when I think I have to cut corners and I forget my plan - my personal experience on those days isn't as positive. I am trying to make better plans to be more consistant.
Bro Hymen
We've Arrived!
Please continue to turn in those miles and let us know of your experiences. Congratulations!

Walking with Christ helps us to glory in His Creations
I have two small children. The older one, Goldie, will be turning three next week. There are weeks when it is very difficult for us to get our “Walk with Christ” done. Last week was one of those. Goldie and I only did 1.75 miles the entire week, but those steps were a lesson in how Christ has blessed this earth with his creations.Because I like to hike I try to take my children at least once or twice a week. Last week after a long frustrating week my husband had to work in the evening, so it was just Goldie, Josiah, and I. Josiah is just sixteen months old so I usually load him up in the backpack and carry him.
We drove up to Pipestem Park and got out to walk. Goldie was excited to balance on logs and pick up rocks to throw in the water. After a few minutes on the trail we spotted a turkey and watched as it strutted up the hillside.
Later Goldie pointed out that the trail was mess at the bottom of a particular tree. We looked up and saw the hole where a woodpecker had been digging for bugs. We also noticed the oozing sap forming into clear liquid raindrops at the top. The slivers of fresh pecked wood surrounding the bottom of the tree were a reminder that there is a purpose and plan for each of God’s trees and creatures.
A little later we saw a dead fish belly side up and as Goldie looked at it and asked questions, we discussed how Christ takes his fish as well as his children home to live and walk with him.
Goldie was a trooper. She walked every step of the 1.75 miles. We sang, talked, and laughed. Little Josiah on my back observed every step, every discussion, and took part in the singing.
Finally, on our way home we paused in our vehicle as we watched a deer walk across the road in front of us. At home Goldie told her dad about her walk and all of the animals that she saw. He got online and showed her what the woodpecker looked like that had made the hole we examined.
That night as Goldie knelt down to pray, she thanked Heavenly Father for the walk, for the animals, for the birds, for the rocks she threw into the water, and for the fish that went back to live with him.
I hope that as I walk with Christ, I can be as diligent and observant as my daughter. Walking with Christ for us last Friday was to know him and his creations in a deeper, more meaningful way.
